THREAD BOX

Hi this is my new craft work, box for keeping threads.

If we arrange these threads in the following way we can find out the required  thread without opening that box. All things used here are waste things only.
1. Sweet box
2. Pins
3. Thermocole sheet
4. Glass sheet

PROCEDURE:

clean the sweet box. Since we have to use this box for storing threads, wipe out oil from this box.

2.Cut thermocole sheet into a required size piece and stick it in the box as in the picture and Next fix all those pins in a required interval for keeping threads in between them. Then leave some space around the upper portion and cut its inner portion using a sharp knife and remove it.

3.Next stick a glass sheet over the portion which we already removed. We should stick it in the wrong side of the upper portion.

4.Now it looks like this…………

5.Then arrange our threads as our wish.

Our thread box is ready to use.

I use these boxes for keeping red family and green family threads separately.

THAI PONGAL CELEBRATION

Thai Pongal is a harvest festival of Tamil people in India. Usually it is celebrated in the first day of the Tamil month THAI. It is also a biggest festival for Tamil people. Its intension is to thank the god SURYA (SUN) and creatures and materials (tools) that helped human for his cultivation in a whole year. People consecrate their first grain to the god SURYA (SUN) .Pongal means “boiling over”. When the milk is boiling over people shouted “Pongola pongal” .At this time they add new harvested rice in the pot. Seeing the Boiling over of milk in a clay pot is trusted by giving good luck and prosperity. People put some kolams in their door steps and dedicate newly cooked rice, sugar cane, sweets, vadai, sweetened rice, milk and harvested vegetables to the god SURYA.Here we draw a simple kolam in our doorstep. My elder daughter was very interested to color it using color powders. But my younger daughter is very interested in wiping that kolam. What a naughty baby is she!

FROCK

Like all my creations in sewing category ,this is also one of  my favourite dresses. Here i used two same type of fabrics in contrast colors, blue and mango color.cut them as stripes and join them.So we can get so many partitions. Here i join them alternatively.Embroidered small flowers scattered in its skirt portion.Pleats are used here in its skirt portion.

In its yoke portion i did a small applique work and embroidery had been done around it. In its neck and sleeve side i did both machine and hand embroideries.

Closer shot of that applique work is.............................

In its centre i stitched a small flower and a kundhan stone was glued in its centre.

TILE ART

Hai this is my first post in this new year 2011.This art is done by the remaining mixture of the ceramic powder and white gum which was used in my Christmas wreath. Here I did a mirror work using that mixture. Its base is a tile.

 see the procedure here.

Apply fabric paint on the whole tile.

This mixture is pasted by using white gum.
Then place mirror in the centre of that ball and press it by thumb finger.
Do the same for ur whole chosed pattern
Glitter is used to embellish that work.

TILE PAINTING

This is my trial piece..........................Why?..............Yes.The out liner used here is not a white glass out liner. It is just fevicol. Is it true?Would you trust it?...................You must trust it.
Here the out liner is the mixture of fevicol and white fabric acrylic color.I don't know is this a correct procedure. But it is a different one to use.mixing should be done as soon as possible.Refrigerate it immediately and use whenever you want.I am so happy since i haven't hear about this method till now.
We should apply carefully because of its consistency.

This painting is done in the base of tile.So is called as a tile painting. Here i used glass colors. Now a wasted tile turn out a beautiful tile painting. I like this painting very much.

Stage 5-30 triangles
Stage 6-30 triangles
Wings:
Wing 1
        Stage 1-12 triangles
        Stage 2-11 triangles

        Stage2-4 triangles
        Stage3-3 triangles
        Stage4-2 triangles
        Stage5- 1triangle
Neck and Head:
30 triangles
STAND:
       BASE 1-40 triangles
       BASE 2 – 55 triangles
PROCEDURE:
Body:

Stage 1 and Stage 2:

A triangle has 2 parts. One is leg or tail and the other one is pocket. It has 2 tails and two  pockets.first we take 2 triangles.then take one more triangle and insert its pockets  into the two legs of these 2 triangles. Here we must insert into the  closesest legs in both of them.See next fig........now u can clear........

do the same for all  60 triangles. Now we can see two layer here.

Stage 3
similarly add 30 triangles here.now turn it upside down.....

Stage 4
next add 30 triangles here .

Stage 5
similarly add 30 triangles here

Stage 6
do the same procedure here also.

Now body part is over....................next wings................

Stage 1
here we add 12 triangles in the same manner.
Stage 2
add 11 triangles
Stage 3
 add 10 triangles
Stage 4
add 9 triangles
Stage 5
add 8 triangles
Stage 6
add 7 triangles
Stage 7
add 6 triangles
Stage 8
add 5 triangles
Stage9
add 4 triangles
Stage10
add 3 triangles
Stage11
add 2 triangles
Stage12
add 1 triangle
then its wing part will be.....................

do the same in its opposite side also.then we get two wings of our swan.....

now wing part is over.next tail...........
TAIL:
Stage 1
add 3 triangles between the two wings.
Stage2
then add 4 triangles
Stage3
next add 3 triangles
Stage4
add 2 triangles
Stage5
next add 1 triangle
then its tail part will be.....................

 Now tail is over.Next neck...........
Neck and Head:
take 30 triangles and insert them one by one as in the fig......this gives a neck part.

remove 2 triangles in the  opposite side of  thetail.then attach this neck.now it will be................

STAND:
BASE 1-40 triangles

BASE 2 – 55 triangles

then place both of them like this............

now place our swan on the stand.......

something missing here is the eye part.using red and black marker i draw eye in a white chart and stick it.
now the swan is ready.................to swim
